Today our littlest love, at four and a half, conquered another milestone; no training wheels! Took off on the first try and he’s the most confident and speedy little rider. My baby 😭❤️ celebrated with our first everybody-off-training-wheels family bike ride of the season 💛 we’re so proud of you Oliver!

🍎doesn’t fall far from the tree [part 2] the more they grow, the more I am comforted and reaffirmed that teaching when parenting is really quite easy. Model what you want them to learn, and teaching becomes a passive practice that easily happens in the every day doing. How do I teach them to find wonder in the world, in the sight of a new leaf pushing up from the earth, in the emotion that poetry and song in combination can bring. How do I teach them that immersing oneself in a book and using your imagination can create the most beautiful pictures. How do I teach them to recognize the smell of healthy rich soil in your hands and yell “compost!” in excitement. How do I teach them to choose healthier foods, kinder words, gentler games, and the list goes on. I am human of course, and for every virtue I may model, I model faults too, which I think is important they see in me, and in future, can both accept and forgive that in themselves. But all this to say, how beautiful a fullness I feel in seeing my Oliver enjoy gardening. Since he could walk, still a diaper wearing babe, he has been in the garden with me, always exploring and helping in whatever way his heart has been called to, and I cherish, CHERISH, sharing these moments with him 💛

To my mom, my sister, to all the beautiful mothers that I mother side by side with every day. To the true grit strength that a mother carries to love, to laugh, to play, to care, to shelter, to nourish, to dream, to thrive, to hope, to be humble, to breakdown, to overcome, to sing, to dance, to be silly, to deplete, to recharge, to start again, to try again, to help, to support, to be there side by side her children, especially this past year. Being a mother is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever had the chance to be, and I thank the universe everyday for the beautiful beings I have the honour of being called “Mamá“ by. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️
